This summer, I was looking for a new manga to read, as its been quite a while since I picked up something new. I didn’t feel like finishing the rest of Berserk or Hunter × Hunter, nor did I feel like reading yet another story about a young hero meeting a villain that appears to be unbeatable, training, then beating them (those stories can be fire though, don’t get me wrong).
With this in mind, I ventured into a genre that I have been neglecting for years. Romantic comedy.
Now that I have, I have struck gold. Let me be the first to say you do not want to miss this.
Kaguya-sama: Love is War is the TRUTH.
This series takes the age old story of a high-school boy and girl who have feelings for each other but are “playing games” and turns it to another level.
Imagine if Death Note were actually about you trying to force your crush into admitting their feelings for you. The lengths that the two main characters go to in order to tiptoe around their feelings and emotions are hilarious, entertaining and possibly relatable.
It may sound crazy but this story may be one of the most masterful pieces of manga I have read recently in terms of sheer entertainment value. I love it and if you take the time to read it, you most likely will too.
Remember kids, Love is War
Note: Kaguya-sama: Love is War has an anime adaptation that began in January of 2019 and has received rave reviews. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________
